Homecoming :
Stories of Living in God's Way

In this Homecoming Season at Church of the Pilgrims—between now and Thanksgiving—we are focusing on the theme, "Living in God's Way." Drawing on the letters of the Apostle Paul, we are exploring those practices that invite us to live out our faith in daily life. In his letters, Paul writes about the disciplines, the actions, the prayers, the resistance needed to grow, create and sustain the early Christian community. Creating and sustaining the early followers was hard work, resisting the dominant Roman Empire and its belief patterns that threatened the existence of believing in the Jesus movement. To live in God’s way, for the early followers of Jesus, was to believe in a set of practices (prayer, meal sharing, acts of justice, expression of joy and thanksgiving, etc) that would keep their faith alive as life unfolded in their community of faith. “Followers of the Way” is the oldest designation of Christians.
To help us explore what this might mean in our own time and place, each week we are asking different members and friends of our community of faith to tell a story about a spiritual practice in their own life.
