Pilgrims on the Journey:

1.  With sadness I share the death of long-time member Catherine McCorquodale. Catherine raised her three daughters at Pilgrims, and was a faithful member in worship until she moved to a care facility a few years ago in Greenwood, South Carolina, to be near one of her daughters. Catherine suffered a debilitating fall two weeks ago. She was surrounded by her family at the time of death. A memorial service will be held at the church Saturday morning, April 14. Details to follow.

2. Please keep Nikki Felix in your prayers, who is at the Washington Hospital Center having a cyst removed from her hip. She is expected to be home by the end of the week.

3.
Holy Week continues:

  • Maundy Thursday  we gather as the early church did to share worship in the context of a  meal, with singing and story telling. We will gather in the Fellowship Hall at  7 p.m., where we will celebrate the Lord's Supper, share an "Agape Meal" of  bread, cheese and fruit, and hear a telling of the Passion Narrative from the  Gospel of Luke.
  • Good Friday  we gather in the sanctuary at 7 p.m. for a candle-light TaizP service of scripture, prayer and  song.
  • Easter Morning  we begin with a continental breakfast in the Bird Room at 9:00  a.m., followed by an Intergenerational Gathering at 9:30  a.m., with Worship at 11:00 a.m. including special  music and celebration of the Lord's Supper. (No coffee hour following worship  on Easter.)

[Special Note on Easter: Those  of you who were here last year may recall that protesters taking umbrage with  our policy of Welcome to the GLBT community gathered in front of the church  before worship, and harrangued worshipers at they entered the building. It is  unlikely that they will return this year, but it is possible. Their protest,  while rude, was not illegal. Our best response is to simply be the loving,  welcoming community that we have always been, and not react to their presence.  But in case they do return, I do not want you to be caught off  guard.]

4. As a follow up to my Adult Education Class on Love, Sex & Marriage in the Bible, there are several helpful articles on the Covenant Network website, some of which I distributed at class. See http://www.covenantnetwork.org/faqsbc06.htm

5. Mark your calendars:
  • Sabbatical Dinners: April 22nd  and 29th
  • Circle 4 invites All women of the  church to meet Tuesday, May 1st, 6:30 pm, at the home of Cheryl  Krehbiel, 4324 Van Ness Street (near the Tenleytown metro) 202.244.3594.  Potluck, no agenda.
  • Sabbatical Retreat, May  19th from 9am until 4pm at  Pilgrims
