We’ll gather at our usual time on Sunday 12/31, but the service will look a bit different. We’re having BRUNCH CHURCH! We invite you to bring a brunch dish to share, warm up your singing voice, and get ready for a casual service of food, song, and discussion. Hope to see you there!
Christmas Eve Worship
A Special Christmas Eve Celebration!
11am Service at Church of the Pilgrims
8pm Service at Western Presbyterian Church
With Christmas Eve falling on a Sunday this year, we've decided to double the celebration and double the joy! We're joining with our neighbors to share in two services on Dec. 24th. You're invited to worship at Church of the Pilgrims on Sunday morning, where we'll still be a bit in Advent, but moving toward Christmas Eve. Then, in the evening we'll head down to Western Presbyterian Church to share in a candlelight Christmas Eve service. All are invited and all are welcome at either service or at both services! We hope to see you there.
Church of the Pilgrims is located at 2201 P St., NW. We have a small parking lot off 22nd Street on the north side of the church building, and on Sundays you can also park in front of the church on 22nd street for free! The Dupont Metro station (Red Line) is just a few blocks east of the church. We have bike racks near the parking lot.
Western Presbyterian Church is located at 2401 Virginia Ave, NW. There is street parking in the area and a small garage under the church building. The Foggy Bottom Metro station is just 3 blocks away.
Holiday Soup and Sing - 12/14
Come make soup and sing a whole lot of Christmas songs!
It’s time to make some extra batches of soup to share with hungry neighbors at Open Table, and we thought we should do that with a little holiday flair! We’ll provide all the ingredients and soup pots, we just need you to bring willing hands and cheerful voices. Thursday 12/14 at 5pm in the Bird Room at church!
Advent at Pilgrims
Join us each Sunday as we celebrate the Story of God’s Relentless Love this Advent. As we watch and wait for the coming of Emmanuel at Christmas, we will read with the prophets- Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezra, Zechariah, and Mary- and share in God’s love as justice, comfort, repair, and faithfulness. Come journey with us to Christmas! Come for Advent at Pilgrims.
Sundays at 11am, in person and online.
Looking ahead to Christmas Eve:
Christmas Eve is on a Sunday this year, so we’re double dipping. And we’re double dipping with friends! We’ve joined together with Western Presbyterian Church for Christmas Eve. We’ll host a Christmasy-Advent 4 Sunday morning worship here at Pilgrims at 11am, then they’ll host a traditional Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 8pm at Western (2401 Virginia Ave, NW). All members, family, friends, and visitors are welcome at both services. Hope to see you there!
Issues Among Us - 12/3
On Sunday, Dec. 3rd after worship (or around 1pm) we'll go visit the National Museum for Women in the Arts. After more than 800 days closed, the newly renovated National Museum for Women in the Arts is open again, with more gallery space, more exhibitions, and, well, so much more. Let’s go check it out together!
Flanny's Name Blessing - Now 12/3
Updated: Flanny’s Blessing will now be held on 12/3.
During worship on Sunday, Nov. 19th Dec. 3rd we’ll celebrate and affirm Flanny’s legal name change! We’ll remember Flanny’s baptism, pray together, and share a blessing over them and their new legal name. It’s such a joy to get to surround Flanny with God’s love and the church’s support in this big moment on their journey! Hope to see you there!
